Acorns invests in space X space station
The Acorns Investment team announced today it has invested in spaceX and is committed to building the next generation of commercial spaceflight and the global space infrastructure for sustainable development.
Acorns, a leading online marketplace for investing in tech and services, is the first digital platform to invest in a space station, according to SpaceX CEO Tory Bruno.
Acorns investment in spaceflight, a $70 billion industry, is based on the company’s extensive experience in space launch, business operations, and technology licensing.
The Acorns team also is a member of a growing global group of investors, including Acorns Partners, Acorns Group, Acorn Capital, Acronis Technology, and Spacex, which has a global presence.
The company has raised $1 billion in funding, including a $3.2 billion Series B round in January 2018.
Acorn has already invested in the first private space launch company, Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX).
The company’s next-generation Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled to launch the SES-11 satellite for European telecommunications provider Inmarsat.
